Workman Commercial provides general contracting, design-build, and construction management services designed to exceed the expectations of our clients. To provide the best quality, value, and overall experience throughout the life of a project, we work in partnership with our client, design partners, subcontractors, and vendors. Austin is the official home of Workman Commercial Construction. Our offices on  on S. IH 35 and Oltorf are home to our Austin project management team, as well as accounting and administrative services.

The Austin office provides full-service construction management services for all types of projects, including education, large shopping centers, car dealerships, industrial, medical, churches, condos, office build-outs, and recreational. With a team of highly-experienced project managers and superintendents, Workman Commercial Construction strives on a daily basis to live up to its motto....On Time, On Budget, On Target. The Austin division has also completed projects with many different contract delivery methods, including Construction Manager at Risk (CM at Risk), Design-Build, and Hard Bid.

Pre-Construction Services and Business Development, Workman Commercial Austin Division

>Travis Thrift is Workman Commercial's Vice President of Estimating and Pre-Construction Services. Travis has over 20 years of experience in the commercial construction field.


As President and CEO of Workman Commercial, Ben is responsible for the vision and strategic direction for Workman Commercial. His duties also include business development, preconstruction services, project management, field construction and office operations. Ben's leadership, project management skills and diverse experience adds an exciting new dynamic at Workman Commercial. His hands-on approach reinforces the team collaboration philosophy by which he derives his management style. Ben’s vision is to ensure that each and every construction project is completed with the same quality and excellence that Workman Commercial has become known for in the industry.

Vice President

Travis is responsible for pre-construction services, estimating, executive support for project managers / superintendents, and coordination with owners, architects, and subcontractors. He has assumed responsibility as VP of Operations for all of Workman's projects, working directly with Ben to ensure that the "Workman Vision" is achieved for all clients. Travis has progressive experience with Workman Commercial, from his beginnings as an estimator to Vice President. He brings extensive construction experience in all types of project delivery methods and systems.

Chief Financial Officer

A Magna Cum Laude honors graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Paula manages all financial operations including financial statement preparation, cash flow management and investment management. She has worked in the construction industry as a field assistant, an electrician’s helper and architect’s assistant. She was selected to the GTE Academic All-American Team and earned the honor of Texas Tech University Female Student Athlete of the Year in 2000. She is currently President of the Central Texas Chapter of the Construction Financial Managers Association and continually seeks educational opportunities in her field. Paula is very active in her church and various community outreach programs, generously giving of her time and energy to others in need.

As a member of Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA), Workman Commercial dedicated a day of service to help with the Christmas in October project benefiting Green Doors. The 2010 event took place at 5802 Sweeney Circle, an affordable housing community on the East side of Austin. The Christmas gifts included a pocket park, flower beds, trees, and a recreation field. The transformation occurred in one day of work by volunteers from the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA).

Since 2008 Workman has participated in CANstruction, an annual fundraiser for The Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). Through fundraising efforts we have been able to contribute more than 3,000 cans of food.

In 2007 Jamon and Paula Workman-White founded the South Austin Pregnancy Resource Center (SAPRC). The purpose of South Austin Pregnancy Resource Center is to provide education, love and support to women in our community as they make important pregnancy decisions. APRC offers counsel on the emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of pregnancy and information concerning available options. Workman Commercial was proud to underwrite the 2010 Embracing Life Partnership Dinner.

Three of our team members have been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas (BBBSCTX) and the company is an official sponsor of the 2011 Bowl for Kids Sake. BBBSCTX mission is to help children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.
